On December 9, APS presented a plaque to Bell Labs as part of its historic sites initiative. The plaque commemorates the discovery of the Cosmic Background Radiation that provided evidence for the Big Bang. For this discovery, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson shared the Nobel Prize in physics in 1978.
